Anime Fest Wichita, August 15-17
Anime Fest, (Dallas, Tx) August 29th - September 1st
Nan Desu Kan, Sept 12-14th
SoGen Con (Sioux Falls, South Dakota) Sept 26-28th (potential)
Anime Banzai, (Salt Lake City) Oct 24-25th
Anime Nebraskon (Lincoln, NE) November 14-16th (Space reserved)
Izumicon (Oklahoma City, OK) Nov 21st-23rd (potential)
Anime Fest Dallas and NDK will involved closing the store since they are the largest of the cons we'll be going to until the end of the year. Wichita won't have it's dealer's room open on Friday, so we don't have to leave on Thursday, and Banzai is Friday & Saturday only, letting me return on Sunday (but I'll miss Mile Hi Con because of it, but considering the money we haven't been making at it, no big loss). Nebraskon will involve a stop at the grandparent's farm.
Sad to say, some of these will be my first trip to these cities. I've been through Wichita as part of A-kons' past, same with Oklahoma City. So I've only seen them in a freeway/pitstop fashion. Never been to Salt Lake or Sioux Falls. We'll also have to see how fast we can get restocked after each convention.
Now we just have to make it through July and have our webstore people get their upgrade finished before we hit the road.

So, way back when, the demon was causing all sorts of trouble, fighting both the humans and the elves and destroying their cities. This went on for 40 years -- an elf managed to tear off the demon's nose about halfway through this rampage, but he couldn't finish the job because he had lost a limb in the fight before the nose-removal and lost the rest of his limbs afterward, prior to being burned to death. Eventually the demon was shot in the year 45 and the humans took over the goblin tower. Many of the goblins fled into the mountains, and others were enslaved, including some of their abductees.
Ngoso and Bax were a couple of elven children born to abducted parents that were left alone to live in the goblin tower under their new human rulers. When they grew up, they both started shops -- The Enjoyable Paddle and the Lessened Healer -- in the year 45, and in the year 54 they both moved to the human town of Beersreined. The next year they were married and they both decided to wander the wilds looking for monsters to killed (they never found any, as the giants were off on the other side of the world and the dragon was dead). Ngoso had ten children in Beersreined, the third of which became the high priest of the god of revenge after both he and his father were converted by the new temple in 146. Ngoso never converted as she had become a dragon worshipper during one of the attacks prior to its death.
As a sidenote, the elves and the humans didn't get along very well, and in the year 60 the elves actually drove the humans out of the goblin tower they had conquered. The elves had no desire to live in a goblin tower so they left it abandoned. At this point, the goblin refugees that had been wandering through the mountains for fifteen years reclaimed the tower. They held it for a total of two years before being defeated by the humans again, who were then able to maintain control of the site until play began. I didn't check if any of the goblins managed to escape again.

Hello Brewing - First Tapping - Moonlight Wheat

Terry and I are throwing a shindig at Casa Northrop to commemorate our first tapping, of our first batch of all-grain, made from scratch, professional style beer.
Moonlight Wheat is a bavarian style wheat with a dark color that hints of malt in the taste and aroma.
In addition to Moonlight Wheat, we will be grilling and Terry will bust out his infamous Nacho Cheese Crockpot. You should come.
If you aren't in my painfully inadequate evite address book, reply with your email and I'll add you. Or you can call, email, or otherwise contact Terry or I to get further details.
It's gonna be fun.

I cherry-picked chapters out of GMAT study guides - and got wonderfully ill the morning of the test, where wonderfully means exactly the opposite, so that has come to naught. I received my official scores in the mail yesterday, and the bitter sting is back.
I'm slated to take it again, and will probably be even ruder about not sharing space with germey folk than I am usually in the week preceding. I will definitely be practicing my math (especially division) during the time off for family reunion.
I have vented my spleen, and received more unsolicited advice than I care to - and have lived up to my self-assigned epithet in dealing with it. My own mind is my bulwark and my foundation, why must people presume that I don't know it? But, then, they don't really mean it that way, and I just have skin so thin, it may as well not be there at all.
And that's been my week/month. How has yours gone?

Don't know that I'm entirely happy with it... but my brain is currently fried and done. Stick a fork in me.
I must find a mindless thing to do for at least 45 minutes or I'll end up with too much sleep which is often worse than too little sleep for me.

1. What I was doing 10 years ago:
July 1998 - don't remember details. About to celebrate my 2nd wedding aniversary with a wonderful man that I'd already lived with an additional 10. Selling his house and realizing a lot of money most of which we put into my house. We bought some playthings, too. I had no clue how hard the next ten years would be and how much my body would continue to fail me. At that time I could still cook and clean.
2. What 5 things are on on my to-do list for today (not in any particular order):
1. mail the gift to my mother for her 90th birthday this Sunday
2. make bank deposit
3. take FSB to Kaiser Permanente
4. fill more boxes with books in prep for carpet laying in 4 weeks
5. write some more on my book
3. Snacks I enjoy:
1. cheddar cheetos-fried to a crackley crunch (don't get them much any more)
2. fresh strawberries (can eat all I want, fortunately)
3. Cook-ies!
4. Turtle Sundae at Goodfriends - another item gone with the wind
5. popcorn
4. Things I would do if I was a billionaire:
1. Send my son to college
2. Give my son his own Tae Kwon Doh academy
3. Pay off the mortgage and credit cards
4. Buy a condo in an assisted living compound
5. Buy another van, a little newer, but not much
5. Places I have lived:
1. Beaumont, Texas
2. Denver, Colorado
3. Orange, Texas
4. back to Denver to stay
5. ?
